Oncology and Hematology
Naga Vutukuri, MD

Dr. Vutukuri is a Board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist serving patients in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Dr. Vutukuri earned her medical degree from Louisiana Health Science Center-University Hospital, where she also completed her residency and fellowship.

Dr. Vuturkuri chose the field of oncology after a deeply personal experience during her pre-clinical medical school years. She lost her favorite uncle to small cell lung cancer within three months of his diagnosis. That loss illuminated the need for oncologists in the community and ignited her passion for the field, which only deepened throughout her medical training.

Her three years of experience as a palliative care physician further solidified her decision to become an oncologist. She wanted to provide comprehensive care that aligns with the goals of patients and their families.

Dr. Vutukuri values her work at Fort Wayne Medical Oncology and Hematology because it is an honor for her to care for each patient. She views her responsibly as extending beyond clinical care to include emotional support for the entire family. While achieving remission or curing cancer isn’t always possible, she takes pride in helping patients live meaningful moments—attending a granddaughter’s wedding, a son’s graduation, or a niece’s sports game. One memory that stands out for her is of a patient who was able to go to her bachelorette party in Florida, get married while undergoing treatment, and ultimately achieve complete remission. Dr. Vuturkuri vividly recalls the smile on that patient’s face, which continues to inspire her.

Dr. Vuturkuri is optimistic about the future of oncology. The same cancer that claimed her uncle’s life in three months is now treated with immunotherapy and targeted therapies, allowing patients to live two years or longer. She is motivated by the advancements in oncology, which challenge cancer at every level and provide her with the tools to help patients not only live longer but also achieve better quality of life.
